Piano Moving Done Correctly

A grand piano is not lifted and carried. The lyre and legs come off, the instrument goes onto a padded piano board, it is strapped and wrapped, and it is moved on its side by a crew sized for the weight. Uprights look simpler and still run four to eight hundred pounds with all of that mass sitting high. We assess the staircase, the doorways and the turns before the day, because that assessment is what determines the crew and the equipment we bring.

Custom Crating for Art and Fragile Pieces

Blankets and shrink protect against scuffs. They do not protect against impact or pressure. For fine art, mirrors, glass tops, stone, sculpture and delicate antiques we build a wood crate to the dimensions of the piece so nothing shifts and nothing bears weight it was not designed to carry. If you are shipping an item long distance, crating is the difference between it arriving and it arriving intact.

Gun Safes and Heavy Items

A full size gun safe can run well over a thousand pounds and the danger is entirely in the stairs and the turns. We move safes with proper equipment and a crew sized to the weight, and we plan the route through the home first. If a safe cannot be moved safely on a given route, we will tell you that before we start rather than finding out halfway down a staircase.
